I'm starting a series of landscapes from photos I took on our trip to Cape Cod last spring. This was a cloudy day photo of the painting, so I had to mess with the color a little - it's not quite true.
Well crap Tyler I have to say it looks much better without that purple underpainting showing as strongly. That said the colors on the small rocks seem a little off. The texture and color on the bigger rocks are reading better. The grass, sky and horizon read nicely also. I'm distracted a bit with the marks/color down in the closer part of the water on the left.
looks like its coming along nicely. strong composition. your colors are set up well enough that now you can focus on a focal point or somekind of punchy element.
there are some odd moments at this point still, but i would say the next one to address would be the rocks poking through the water on the left. they look pretty ungrounded, as if the water is completely opaque and just the tops are visible. water is super tuff, but i think you've got the distant stuff worked out. you just need to indicate more transparency as it gets closer.
