Swamp Thumb

Some sketches for a painting request for my mom. Some of the elements: elongated ratio, eroded roots, and an Alexis Rockman style cross-section of the water.

Any of these getting anywhere?

I most like the first drawing in the first row and the second drawing in the second row. First drawing first row: I love the immediacy of the underwater experience and the tree in the background; don't like the feeling that the trees are both in the water. Second in the second row: I Like the tree on the edge of the bank with water gradually eroding the bank and exposing roots (also see 2n row, third drawing) Second in the second row: also like the length of the trunk with at least one branch. Second in second row: also like willows in the background, but it could also have a tree in the background. Second in second row: don't like the double trunk, but like the size of the trunk. I would like to see more root exposure (like 2nd row third drawing). I like the feeling of depth in the background landscape on the back side of the river 1st row 2nd drawing.
