I haven't painted at all since Summerfest, so I grabbed a panel and dove into this monkey skull. This is a few hours, alla prima. It's sort of in preparation for a series of Wunderkammer paintings I've had my mind on for a while. I tried to be a little more interpretive than observational. One panel at a time, right?

I love the skull1!! So so much! I have nothing to say about it except that you are getting better at painting all the time. I have something else for your wonder-whatever, too. And we have your socks from the campfire.
The drawing is an awesome likeness, but your head looks like it's pushed too far forward, or you need the shoulder line to come out some more. It kind of looks like you are sticking your neck out a little. It may be rendered correctly, but the drawing feels slightly off balance.
Otherwise, it's incredibly difficult to draw from a mirror and I think you did a stellar job on the rendering of the face. I love the crisp edge on the far side of your face.
